I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

The results of my foray into soap making. The dragons were made from a sculpy dragon I made, careful to keep it at around 4-5 ounces in a good soap-size with no sharp bits or pieces that would get caught in a single-piece mold. I then made a mold (special thanks to Akeyla for the help!) and cast my soap dragons from it.

I had so much fun with this project. In the end I used up all my soap base and I had around 100 soaps made! I had 27 extra soaps that I did not need for my holiday gifts, so I thought I'd try them on etsy. So far I've sold 12 of them. Quite pleased :-) If you're interested in a soap, there's still one to two of each dragon color left, along with some large, double pour bars. They smell like unicorn giggles and if you order in the next week or so, they'll likely arrive in time for Christmas.

Red = Very Merry Cranberry
Green = Eucalyptus and Spearmint
Black = Black Raspberry Vanilla
White (Shea Butter Soap) = Fresh Vanilla
Brown/Bronze = Brown Sugar and Fig




In between all the dragons I've been scrambling to finish up for the book, I've been interspersing a lot of crafts and jewelry making. It's so much fun making small projects like this!

Patch Together - Krisgoat's Death Haunt
Krisgoat recently submitted a rather spiffy dark fairy to patch together. Stop on by and comment / vote if you enjoy it and would like to see this made into something fancy and tangible.

Okay, so here's that circumstance where I open up for emergency commissions (I might as well open up for Holiday commissions..). I just looked in my account just now..because I'm starving, and want to go get food. Apparently I only have about 7 bucks and that wont do me any good. I need some money for later on this week. My mom was supposed to put money in my account today..but even when she does that, whenever the vet bill goes through I'm only gonna be left with like..$60.

So here's the deal, I already have a list of owed commissions to get started on when winter break hits on the 14th. If you buy a commission from me today, unfortunately you will be put on the end of that list since it's only fair. Since that's the case, I probably wont get to you until the end of December or somewhere in January, it all depends on how much I can get done on break (I still need to spare some time to do art for myself and secret santa stuff). Good news is, since I switched majors I'll be having more time to do art next semester since I'm taking mostly liberal arts courses and writing courses. So more than likely you wont be waiting forever for it. The thing with my commissions though, if you end up waiting for too long I end up upgrading your commission in the long run after it's been 2 to 3 months. So I guess you could call this a waiting list.

I'm only opening for my bigger quality commissions.

For DonnaQuinn of her super-sweet monsterette Ella and a small friend (a splendid fairy wren).

Both of these are on transparent acetate animation cels. The wren was drawn on with sharpie, glass paints, and white acrylic. Ella was drawn and coloured in ink on bristol, then cut out and glued on. And I couldn't resist adding in some stickers and shiny coloured crystals. I had a lot of fun making these. :) Scanned them on two different backgrounds for a better comparison.

     It was kinda bugging me that people who HAD left some feedback were being punished too much in the Hall of Shame, and that some people who weren't 100% were likewise being ranked too highly for their shortcoming in the Hall of Fame. So I've added a normalization to the Score calculation that shaves off 40 from the Percent calculation, making the Score Multiplier drop from the 50-100 range into the 10-60 range. I'm much happier with how this has adjusted the rankings and scores. I've also added more wordiness (nerdiness) in the page to explain things including sections on how feedback works and how you can leave it so simply on FurBuy. So if you haven't yet, check it out:
